Wood River Elementary PTO Mission Statement
The Wood River Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), in cooperation with the community of Wood River, encourages an attitude of support, pride and enthusiasm that promotes a positive school/community relationship, enhancing our children’s educational environments, and influencing our children’s future success.
· To promote Parent/Teacher cooperation in the overall education of our children.
· To conduct fundraising activities to ensure that state of the art educational materials are available to all the children of Wood River.
· To host activities that encourage family involvement in the educational process.
· To support individual teachers in the classrooms by coordinating the efforts of the “room parents”.
· To show appreciation to the educational staff, who influence our children’s future.
· To encourage community involvement in school functions in order to enhance the future of the City of Wood River.
Membership is open to any parent or guardian of a student enrolled in the school, teachers, interested citizens of the City of Wood River, alumni or other patrons who wish to become involved.

Meetings are held monthly during the school year in the cafeteria at the grade school. This amounts to only 7 meetings for 1 to 1½ hours. Changes to meeting time or date will be announced in the weekly school bulletin. Attendance is open to anyone interested in contributing to enhancing our children’s education.

Book Fair- The Book Fair is held during Parent-Teacher Conferences in October. This is an opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping or donate a book to your child’s classroom. The school library, as well as the classrooms, receive free books from this event.
Teacher Appreciation- This is our opportunity to show the Teachers how much we appreciate all that they do for our children. In the past, PTO has provided the teachers with lunch and a gift in May.
Room Parents- The PTO organizes the room parents, who provide the holiday parties and teacher assistance for their child’s classroom.
Fund-raisers- PTO raises funds to achieve the purposes of our organization and improve the school for students and staff. Deli-International Food sales have been a huge fund-raiser for PTO and contributed to providing our students with state of the art educational opportunities. The PTO offers “Lil Eagle” t-shirts at various times. This gives the children a chance to show their school spirit!
Campbell’s Labels for Education and Boxtops for Education- Clip your Campbell’s Labels for Education and save those General Mills Boxtops. The PTO collects these each year to redeem for cash and prizes.
Pumpkin Decorating- The PTO provides pumpkins for the students to take home and decorate. After the pumpkins are returned to school, a pumpkin trail takes over the gym. Families are invited to view the pumpkins, enjoy pumpkin bars and cider and spend time with other families.
